Construction Joint Type A

The Isoplam Type A Construction Joint is a pre-assembled sacrificial construction and containment formwork joint, designed for concrete flooring. Its main function is to transfer loads from one slab to another, while also absorbing thermal and hygrometric movements of the screed (UNI 11146:2005 – point 3.3.3), reducing the risk of cracking and ensuring flatness and long-term durability.

Thanks to its ease and speed of installation, it is widely used in both indoor and outdoor industrial flooring, where it helps prevent vertical or rotational movements that could cause chipping and deterioration of the concrete slabs due to traffic and heavy loads. The joint consists of two Fe360 steel sheets, 3 mm thick and 3 m long, bent into an "L" shape and staggered with M6 plastic nuts and bolts. Steel Fe430 dowel bars are inserted perpendicularly between the two sheets, with diameters varying depending on the joint height.

The dowel bars slide inside plastic sleeves with caps, allowing natural movement of the concrete slabs. Under the dowel bars are welded ribbed anchors in B450 steel, 8 mm in diameter, which ensure firm anchorage to the concrete and guarantee excellent performance and long service life for the flooring.
