Construction joint type B

The Isoplam® Type B Construction Joint is a pre-assembled, disposable construction and containment joint, designed for concrete floors. It ensures both the load transfer from one slab section to another and the absorption of thermal and hygrometric movements in the screed, such as those caused by temperature changes or shrinkage during drying (UNI 11146:2005 – section 3.3.3).

It stands out for its ease and speed of installation and is widely used in both indoor and outdoor industrial flooring, reducing vertical and rotational movements that could compromise the flatness of the surface, resulting in chipping and deterioration of the slab edges due to heavy traffic. The joint consists of two offset S235 steel plates, 3 mm thick and 3 m long, bent in an “L” shape, placed opposite each other and joined with M6 bolts and nuts.

Inside are S275 steel dowel bars, with a diameter that varies according to the height of the joint and a length of 60 cm. The dowels are partially housed in oval plastic sleeves with a cap, allowing for natural movement of the concrete slabs. Between the dowels, ribbed B450C steel anchors with an 8 mm diameter are welded to the plates, ensuring solid and secure anchorage to the concrete, enhancing the durability of the flooring.
