A mix of materials and colors for a starred gastropub in the heart of Yorkshire

An inn with ancient origins renews its image with unusual combinations and authentic elements. On the floor, the shaded look of Skyconcrete Indoor by Isoplam mediates the material and chromatic contrasts, unifying the spaces with taste and sobriety.

In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, the picturesque hills located in the North of England, the Angel at Hetton has been welcoming travelers since the early 15th century. The ancient inn, crossing the culinary and gastronomic history of the country, over time has established itself as an obligatory stop for tourists and visitors, especially since chef Michael Wignall and his partner Johanna, restaurant manager, took over the helm. With their management, in fact, the restaurant has not only received the recognition of the Michelin guide, but has also been able to strengthen what has always distinguished it over the centuries: an excellent gastronomic offer, a warm atmosphere and a deep bond with the intense Yorkshire landscape.

The new gastropub, deeply renovated in style, welcomes guests with a casual and contemporary look, designed to give customers a relaxed experience. While externally the building has maintained an aesthetic in line with the historicity of the inn and with the territorial context, internally it has instead been completely revised in both materials and colors. The main room, for example, is surprising for the unusual combination of wood, copper and concrete. The first was chosen both for the tables and for an evocative wall covering made up of many thin irregular trunks. The copper tone, on the other hand, was selected to enhance the fireplace, recalling the iridescent reflections of the fire. The concrete color, in different shades and nuances, was finally chosen for the seats, for the table accessories, for the walls and, above all, for the floors, made with Skyconcrete Indoor by Isoplam.

Cementitious coating that combines the elegance of the cloudy effect with the versatility of a continuous low-thickness surface, Skyconcrete Indoor in just 2 mm has been able to restore all the identity character of concrete by renovating the restaurant, the bar area, the main kitchen and preparatory cooking. Chosen in the delicate Light Gray color, it allowed the material and chromatic contrasts of the inn to be mediated with sobriety, while at the same time ensuring a surface with excellent adhesion and resistance qualities.

Highly customizable thanks to various finishes and colors available, Skyconcrete Indoor is perfect for renovations because it can also be applied on existing surfaces (ceramic, tiles, marble, concrete, sand-cement screed, self-leveling) without the need to remove or demolish them. . The ease of cleaning, due to the absence of joints and the protective layers, and the absence of substances that are hazardous to the health of people and the environment (thanks to the water-based composition) also make it perfectly suitable for situations that require a high level of hygiene, in compliance with the most current regulations regarding safety and well-being.
